The Committee
Elected at the first meeting of the Friends of Wantage Cinema, the following members of the local community make up the committee and oversee proceedings.
Please note more details on the other committee members will be following shortly.
Chairman
Tim Weekes has been a resident of Wantage for the past ten years, with two teenage children who have grown up with the cinema, having used it at least five times a year. Persuaded to contribute by the ground swell of reaction at the initial meeting at the Civic Hall, he volunteered for the committee and was elected as Chair.
Other Members
Jeremy Tait has lived in Wantage since 1995, and was previously a regular cinema user. He joined the campaign because the cinema is a great asset to the social and cultural part of our town, and he wants to ensure that we, and our kids, have that choice to enjoy.
Bradley Day is currently a gap year student. He believes the cinema to be of high importance because it retains culture and art in a town suffering from a bland and destructive uprising of obsessive economic and corporate growth.
Mike Lord has lived in Wantage all his life and has attended the local cinema on a weekly basis for more years than he cares to remember. As an avid film buff he feels the cinema is an essential part of our local community.
Richard Johnson, a representitve of the youth in the local area, thinks the cinema is an important addition to the community that is missed by most.
Steven Badger enjoys drama and feels the reopening of the cinema is an important artistic development for the town. Representing youth.
